Overview

Traditionally, online video game walkthroughs have been created as plain text files with no formatting or embellishments other than visual tricks such as ASCII art. In recent years, however, this format has been criticized for not evolving along with advances in web design and web content accessibility.

StrategyWiki is a website that uses the powerful MediaWiki processing engine at its core, allowing anyone to freely author and contribute video game strategy guides that utilize features such as rich text, tables, and inline images—all things that are either impossible or extremely difficult to replicate in a plain text file—that can contribute greatly to the impact of a walkthrough.

In 2008, I was approached by ABXY LLC to reinforce the StrategyWiki brand by redesigning their website. To do this, I focused on paring and unifying extraneous navigational elements, optimizing the usability of site features for users, and streamlining graphical elements in order to emphasize the site's user-contributed content. Since then, I have continued to work with ABXY, assisting with website development, user interface optimizations, and advertisement campaigns for StrategyWiki.

Testimonial

"Teddy is an extremely professional web developer who takes his assigned tasks extremely seriously. He often simply 'gets' the jobs that he is asked to implement without the need for tremendous elaboration, and rarely gets any details wrong the first time. If he does, his ability to amend and correct his original implementation in almost no time is a testament to how dedicated he is to achieving the correct results. Teddy works well with all other members of the team, and often spearheads some of the more creative aspects that we've applied to the site." —Scott Jacobi, CEO of ABXY LLC
